Performers,
actors
Players
and backstabbers
They
are persuasive and seductive
Fondling your mind
They'll
lure you and trap you
With
their subliminal suggestions
And
provocative rhymes
Draped
in captivating red
And
decorated with diamonds
They
hide daggers inside their sleeves
Dripping
with superficiality and authenticity
Deceit
and decency
Loathing
and love
Raging
with burning passion
Flooded
with desire
Inciting
flaming intimacy
And
blazing voracity
Like
kindling to a fire
They
undress pride with a syllable
Strip
away secrets with a vowel
Baring
souls
And
leaving hearts exposed
Whispered
with all the subtlety
Of
a flirtatious smile
Or
screamed with all the intensity
Of
a fierce eruption
Masters
of illusion
Artists
Painting
worlds that cannot be touched
With
a humble parting of the lips
Releasing
sprays of bullets that gush
Like
wintry showers
Leaving
the world cold and slippery
A
weapon of the evil
And
a weapon of the great
But,
a weapon nonetheless
Only
twenty-six parents
But
children, countless
Strung
together
Creating
generations, eras, millennia
Desecrated
and bent
Chosen
and minced
Choked
on, played on
Thought,
read and written
Born
out of passion
Killed
by abuse
There
are first words
And
there are last words
But
conceivably the most significant
Are
the words in between
So
much creation
So
much devastation
With
a simple stab of the tongue
And
bloody lips over teeth
Some
words slip right off
Like
the loose knot on a robe
Some
words penetrate
And
slice open souls
How
much guilt and regret has been spent
On
words that were spoken
Or,
words never said
Sometimes
there simply are no words
And
sometimes
They
just don't quite make it out of our heads
Powerful,
but also limited
Because
once they are spoken
There
is no turning back
It
is what it is
Remember
Before
you open your mouth
Your
words do not yet exist
You
are the creator of something once immaterial
So
be careful of the comments which you conceive
Mind
what is born on your lips
Consider
whether it deserves to be delivered into this world
To
be given life
An
infant, of your own making
A
child
Of
which you alone pay the price
